佐々木芽生

ドキュメンタリー映画監督

北海道札幌市生まれ。青山学院大学仏文科卒業。1987年に渡米、以来NY在住。1990年に、ベルリンの壁が崩壊したのをきっかけに激動の東欧へ単独で渡り、現地の様子を伝える写真とエッッ生を『Yomiuri America』などで連載。これをきっかけにフリーのジャーナリストになる。
1992年、NHKニューヨーク総局勤務。『おはよう日本』でNY金融情報を伝えるキャスター、世界各国から身近な話題を伝えるコーナー『ワールド・ナウ』NY担当レポーター、ニュースディレクターとして活躍。NHKスペシャル『世紀を越えて』『地球市場』『同時３点ドキュメント』など世界40ヶ国以上を飛び回りTV番組の制作に従事する。
02年に自身のプロダクション「Fine Line Media」をNYで設立。初めて監督とプロデューサーを務めた映画『ハーブ＆ドロシー アートの森の小さな巨人』が2008年6月にアメリカで公開され、各地の映画祭で最優秀ドキュメンタリー賞や観客賞を受賞。日本では2010年11月より自主配給にて全国の劇場で公開される。続編となる『Herb & Dorothy 50×50（ハーブ＆ドロシー 50×50）』は国際捕鯨論争をテーマにした作品も制作中。

Born in Sapporo. Left for the US in 1987, serving as a reporter and news director for NHK. She has travelled to more than 40 countries in the creation of TV programs.
In 2002, established her own production company named "Fine Line Media". Her first film as a producer and director "Herb and Dorothy," opened across America in June in 2010, and has won awards and accolades in number of international film festivals in the documentary category. It opened in Japan in November of 2010, and is now playing at select theaters.
In addition to the production of a sequel, "Herb & Dorothy 50x50" is going to open this March, which is supported by the cloud funding system.
